Luiza de Mello e Souza

Luiza has a master’s degree in educational technology for health sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a degree in biology from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), in addition to other certifications. She entered the world of philanthropy in 2001. She worked for twelve years at the Brazilian office of the Ford Foundation, first as a program associate and later as a grants manager. She was also a visiting researcher at the Polytechnic School of Health Joaquim Venâncio (at Fiocruz); she worked at the National Technology Institute (INT); she taught at the University of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) as a replacement lecturer; and was a junior researcher and social educator in the EICOS Program, at UFRJ. Wanting to experience what it means to be a grantee, she joined iCS in 2016, when the institution was only one year old, to work on fundraising. With the growth of iCS, in addition to taking care of the relationship with funders, for some years Luiza also managed the teams dedicated to planning, evaluation and learning, institutional communication and grants management. Currently, she is focused on leading the areas of grants management and planning, evaluation and learning.
