Edvaldo Santana was awarded a PhD in Production Engineering in 1994 from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), where he is a retired full professor. He was a director of the National Agency for Electric Energy – ANEEL between 2005 and 2013 and superintendent of Economic and Market Studies of that agency, between 2000 and 2005. He was vice-president of New Business at Electra Energy between 2018 and 2020 and CEO of the Association of Large Energy Consumers – ABRACE between 2016 and 2018 and CEO of Brasil PCH between May 2014 and October 2016. As a director of ANEEL, he was vice-president of the Ibero-American Association of Energy Regulators (Ariae) between 2006-2012 and president for six months. He was also an advisor and president of the Association of the Regulators of the Portuguese Official Language (Relop) between 2011-2013. Prof. Edvaldo has supervised 35 doctoral theses, of which 25 were about the electricity sector. He has a vast scientific production in the area of ​​the regulation of the electricity sector and price formation, a part of which is published in the Blog Papo de Energia, for which he is responsible. He is a columnist for the newspaper Valor Econômico, where he writes about electric energy and topics related to Behavioral Economics.
