Vedantha oversees food and land use within CIFF’s climate programme, a global philanthropy focussed on transforming the lives of children and adolescents. Throughout his time at CIFF he has covered a range of areas, including climate litigation, carbon markets, and CIFF’s Brazil programme. Prior to CIFF, he had a wide-ranging career developing climate policy in the UK government. He helped negotiate the EU Emission Trading System and create the UK’s post-Brexit alternative. In the run-up to COP26, he led the development of key international coalitions on transport and industrial decarbonisation. Domestically, he led the development of the strategy to decarbonise heating in the UK. He is a recent Policy Fellow at the Centre for Science and Policy at the University of Cambridge, and a current trustee of Murmur, a foundation driving climate leadership from the music and arts. Outside of climate, he is a passionate musician and a former UK chess player.
