Frederico has an honor’s degree in Forest Engineering and a master’s degree in the Ecology of the Amazon and Natural Resource Management. He worked at WWF Brazil for almost 10 years (2014-2023) and headed the Zero Deforestation team – with 8 national and international strategies – and coordinated different multisectoral collectives, for example: the Rio Food Vision of the 2016 Olympics, the Cerrado Soy Working Group (GTC), and the Working Group of the Forest Code for the Brazilian Coalition on Climate, Forests and Agriculture. Previously, at IUCN (2008- 2014), he was the coordinator of the Amazon Office and the Program Officer for Brazil. At the beginning of his career, when working for the NGO PESACRE, Frederico had the opportunity to reside for four years in the forest, living with traditional communities in the Amazon. He concluded this period with the publication of a book that deals with one of the central themes of the bioeconomy; the community management of products from the socio-biodiversity. Frederico lives in Brasília, where he works as a volunteer to support families led by women in socially vulnerable situations. He is passionate about nature and has always been linked to conservation and sustainable development, as well as the defense of the rights of the indigenous peoples and traditional communities. At iCS, he coordinates the portfolio of Land Use and Food Systems.
