João Pedro Rocha is a PhD student in Climate Change and Sustainable Development Policies at the University of Lisbon. He has a master’s degree in Urban Engineering with an emphasis on Territorial Planning and Management and a degree in Public Management for Economic and Social Development with an emphasis on the Public Sector, both from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. During his degree, he studied for one semester at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA, as part of the Diversity program.

With more than 10 years of professional experience, João worked at ITDP Brasil, in the areas of management, financial planning, data analysis and public policies and at the Chamber of Councillors of Rio de Janeiro as a coordinator of technical content and climate and environment advisor. In this process, he contributed to two pioneering laws in Brazil, which recognize and declare the climate emergency and implement climate education into schools in Rio de Janeiro.
