Rafaela Guedes is an independent consultant, a Senior Fellow at the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI), an International Consultant at APCO, and a member of an expert panel on Energy Transition at the Institute for Climate and Society. She has 18 years of professional experience in the Energy Industry and, for the last 7 years, has been dedicated to energy transition strategies, strategic planning, sustainability and, more recently, business development. As a Senior Fellow at CEBRI, she leads an Energy Transition Program in partnership with multilateral development banks, and the private and public sectors. She is currently developing sectoral roadmaps for 2025/2040, which are compatible with the Brazilian NetZero trajectory. In February 2023, she published, in partnership with COPPE, EPE and IDB, NetZero scenarios for Brazil. As part of the International Advisory Board of APCO, she helps the company to navigate the energy, mining and sustainability scenario in Brazil. She produces articles and research and promotes discussions involving various stakeholders, who are focused on building a just energy transition and sustainable development. She recently began to help Brazilian companies expand their businesses globally.
Rafaela worked at Petrobras for 17 years, holding various positions. She was Head of Corporate Social Responsibility. Previously, she worked as Chief Economist, Corporate Manager of Exploration and Production, and Coordinator of Investor Relations and Business Development. She has a degree in economics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), a master’s degree in international management from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV), and is studying for a PhD in Energy Planning at COPPE/UFRJ.
