Alternatives to boost the low carbon economy in Brazil

Advances in this area are essential to combat climate change

The 1st meeting of the National Thematic Chamber of the Brazilian Forum on Climate Change (FBMC) was dedicated to the discussion on the carbon economy. The FBMC, a grantee of iCS, aims to stimulate the debate about climate change in Brazil, disseminating information on its economic, social and environmental impacts.

The online event marked the advance of the activities of the Forum. During the meeting, the work plan of the Technical Chamber on the carbon economy was discussed, addressing its structure and operation and reinforcing the need for specific and integrated actions.

Attending the meeting were Emilio Lèbre La Rovere, the general coordinator of the Thematic Chamber (CT) on the Carbon Economy and coordinator of the Climate Center/Coppe/UFRJ; Shigeo Watanabe, the vice general coordinator of the CT on the Carbon Economy and researcher at the Talanoa Institute; and Sérgio Xavier, the Executive-Coordinator of the Brazilian Forum on Climate Change.
