The Marielle Franco Nucleus – NMF was founded in May 2018, when the Institute for Climate and Society (iCS) decided to broaden the thematic discussion of racial diversity by hiring a consulting firm.
Since then, the NMF was structured and officially became the focal point for logistics, organization, affirmative action planning promoting the important change in organizational culture and also promoting awareness actions in the field of institutions that orbit the iCS.
The Mission of NMF
To promote racial equity and to accelerate inclusion initiatives in the institutional
development of iCS.
Internally stimulating the reflection and the racial equality in the profile of iCS employees, with special attention to decision-making positions. Externally, it develops a practical exercise in the raising of the awareness of the supported organizations , in order to encourage reflections regarding paths and practices of diversity of gender, race and inclusion.
With the support of consultancy by Carreira Preta, the NMF currently coordinates the construction of an institutional policy of racial diversity and equity. This is transversal to the operating areas of iCS, with impacts on the organizations operating in the climate agenda.
